Fayetteville State University – High Tech Stock Room

The other day I received an envelope from Fayetteville State University which contained the latest copy of their magazine.  I’ll never forget the day when I was asked to photograph the Stock Room Class as well as their internationally renowned economics scholar Dr. Stringham.  Below are some of the original photographs followed by a subset of the images used in their magazine.

The “QuiSe” Project

A few weeks ago The Haddock family approached me about a special project for their son Marquise.  They mentioned that he is coming out with a CD and they required both photography and graphic design.   We set up a meeting to discuss some of the imagery and set dates to actually do all of the shooting.  Once the images were captured I spent time creating the 4 pages and CD label using the text, image choices and font selections from the family.  During our meeting I had the chance to hear some of the songs and I was really impressed.   This young man is extremely talented and all the songs were written, arranged and produced by him.   Below you will find some of the images from our shoot followed by the final designs.

The Ricciardi Family – November 7, 2010

On Sunday I made my way to Winston-Salem, NC to capture some precious memories of the Ricciardi family.  Before the shoot I felt that it was important to ask the following question: “Do you want this to be a serious/formal shoot or do you want to have fun?”.  The mom told me that she wanted to have fun and that was all that I needed to hear.  The purpose for this shoot was to capture a formal portrait of the entire family to hang on their wall.  To make the session more interesting we did a few formal poses and the rest of the time we just  let loose and played.

Cat Woman – Emily

One thing that I truly love about photography is the wide range of ideas & concepts that one can explore and capture.   Whenever I receive an e-mail or call from Emily I know that life is about to go from “regular run of the mill” to “exciting and not sure what I’m about to shoot next”.    She’s one of the most creative and outgoing models that I know.

Emily shot me an e-mail and I could tell by the way she wrote that she was excited about a new idea.   She said “Ivan I want to do a catwoman shoot.”  Being a fan of the Marvel Comic book movies I found this idea to be very intriguing to me.   Catwoman . . . now this should be interesting.

Emily is about the only one that can truly relate to my homework assignments at the Art Institute.  On Friday November 5th I made my way over to “Studio 921″ which is Emily’s haven for artistic paintings, sculptures and such.  When I walked through the door I thought “WOW” she really is cat woman.  We checked out a few wigs. One of them consisted of long black hair and another was a solid  platinum wig but I wasn’t feeling them at all.  I decided that her natural blond hair would work best for this shoot.   We cranked up the music in her place and the rest is history.  Be on the lookout in the near future for our “Super Girl” shoot.

Les Long – Comedian

This past Saturday I had the chance to hook up with Les Long for a photoshoot at St. Augustine College in Raleigh, NC.   He’s currently working on a new comedy tour and needed new images for use on the posters and advertistments.   Just about the entire time Les was just cutting up.  You’ll even see in the first image where I even had to go off grid to try and keep up with what he doing.

You can learn more about Les and follow what he’s up to by visiting his website -> http://leslongshow.com/

Classy Couple – Matthew & Tracey Part II

Last weekend I had a great time hanging out with Matt & Tracey.  We were able to work on several concepts and get them captured.  They are truly one of the coolest couples that I’ve ever worked with.  You can see some of the images from our shoot below.

Camera gear used: Two Sony A700’s,  Alien Bee Strobes and some other stuff.

1/4 Page Ad

I’ve never bought an ad to do any advertising so this is a first for me.  In my previous posting I shared that we just completed a project of converting a hard copy version of a year book to DVD format.   The 1970 reunion committee asked if I wanted to take out an advertisement in their booklet.  After giving this some thought I decided that I would go with the 1/4 page but I  didn’t want just plain text.   Below is the image that will be used in the booklet.
