This morning I had the chance to capture little Leslie. She was a bundle of joy and this little girl loves to giggle.  She like cookies and ice cream like most children. She also loves the camera.

Fatima At Straw Valley – Model Shoot
I had the opportunity to shoot with Fatima. She’s been in the modeling industry for 11 years.  Fatima will probably kill me for saying this but… scouting out areas to shoot in with her is like trying to keep up with “The Crocodile Hunter”.  She has no fear (except for bugs) and she will cross rivers, balance on suspension bridges and brave snake filled waters to get her shot.  When she gets into modeling mode she’s a piece of cake to work with.  She had her own suggestions on poses but she was also open minded about things that I tried to throw out. You can’t tell it by the photo but the wall that she is posed on is about 8 feet high and 5 inches wide. Can you say “Brave”?    My thoughts.. oh God just don’t let her fall. When you look at her pictures check out the ones where she just let go and started to laugh and smile. Her smile literally lights up the frame and can bring joy and a sense of fun to anyone looking at it.
Yes, she knows how to do her thang and she’s very photogenic but she also has the heart to help out. One thing that shocked me after our shoot was that she proactively helped to unplug lights, pack up umbrellas, softboxes and light stands. She helped to  haul stuff back to the van and there was not even one comment about the possibility of breaking a nail. I thought about asking her to lift the gas powered generator and put it back in van for me but that would have been a bit much.  I’m looking forward to shooting with her again and working on some of the other concepts that we’ve sketched out. Keep checking back because soon there will be more.
By the way, the property where we did the shoot is called Straw Valley. It is located in Durham, NC near Wal-mart on 15-501. Special thanks to Scott H. Bednaz (919) 844 – 2145 for allowing us access to the property. They are in the process of developing an all in one wedding facility for brides to be.

Julian Guthrie – Senior Shoot
Julian Guthrie is a senior at Hillside Highschool and he plays the snare drum.  Julian asked if I would take his senior photos with his band uniform. I was seriously excited about the opportunity because there were so many different directions that we could take this shoot.  The first image that came into my mind was Julian drumming on a drum with water going everywhere.  In my mind, this shoot was divided into two logical sections.
Â
1. A shoot for Julian and I.
2. A shoot for the parents and family.
Here I present to you Julian Guthrie graduating with the class of 2009.
Teen Farmer
Today I had a request to capture a picture from the Farmers. This was a really quick operation and their daughter worked very well with the camera. When everything was said and done I think the entire shoot took about 7 minutes.

The Taylor Family
On Sunday afternoon I was invited to visit with the Taylor Family.  They wanted some family portraits taken. Our original plan of meeting at a really nice park was prevented due to the threat of rain. Therefore, we found a setting near their home and we also converted their family room into a studio so we could continue taking pictures if it rained. Well, as it turns out it started to rain so we headed inside to finish the shoot.
The Baptism of T. Dunston
This past Sunday I had the privilege to capture the most important decision in a young man’s life. That decision was to give his life to Jesus Christ and to be publicly baptized to let everyone know about the change in his life.   The tear jerk portion of this ceremony was knowing that he was being baptized by his father Rev. Claude Dunston.  The joy in his heart must have been overwhelming.

Chacona & Waldo – Wedding April 11, 2009
This past Saturday I had the priviledge of capturing the wedding of Chacona & Waldo. These two have a zest for life and truly love to have fun and cut up. They were surrounded by many family and friends that came from all around to share in this special day.  I encourage you to watch the slideshow at the end of this blog entry so that you can “easily” view all the pictures while listening to music.
May God bless your marital union as you go forward as husband wife.
Thanks for allowing me to capture these precious memories for you.
